We answer censorship with transparency

Censorship works best when nobody can see who is doing it. Orders are signed inside anonymous departments, blocking lists arrive from unnamed agencies, and the people who decide what millions may read stay comfortably out of view.

The Censorship Watch Foundation exists to remove that comfort. We do not censor anyone in return and we do not call for retaliation against anyone. We do one thing: we document, verify and publish who actually stands behind censorship decisions, which institutions they serve and which companies carry those decisions out.

Every entry in the registry is a checked record about a person or an organization with a traceable link to censorship: the positions they held, the periods they served, the bodies they worked for and the companies connected to them. Sources are attached to the record, so anyone can follow the evidence instead of taking our word for it.

The registry is public, free to read and open to correction. If you believe a record is wrong or incomplete, write to us and we will review it.
